Halifax's Cunard Centre Hosts NS Gaming Authority's Comedy Cures Benefit Featuring Jerry Seinfeld

Halifax, Nova Scotia (September 10, 2008) – On Tuesday, September 9th, Jerry Seinfeld performed stand-up at the Cunard Centre for a crowd of 1700 guests. The event was a fundraiser for the QEII Foundation which plans to use the funds to build a new Emergency and Trauma Centre.

The doors to the event opened at 6:30 p.m. with guests being treated to 'An Evening in New York.' The atmosphere was achieved with famous street signs, steaming potholes and actors playing the roles of stereotypical New Yorkers. The opening reception also featured live entertainment from the Atlantic Cirque School. Local band, Barnacle also played several famous musical selections inspired by the city of New York.

The reception menu featured selections inspired by the Seinfeld sitcom including the 'Soup Nazi's' Minestrone, Pizana's calzones and 'Top-of-the-Can Eclairs'. Guests also found a special lunch box on their chairs once inside the performance area. The box contained a black and white cookie as well as several other snacks to enjoy once seated. Servers also passed out ballpark-style hotdogs and cold beverages before the show. Mr. Seinfeld began his performance at 9:10 p.m. and performed for a full hour. As he left the stage, the crowd gave him a standing ovation.

Following the performance, an exclusive reception was held in a VIP tent at the Cunard Centre for event sponsors and invited guests. Many of these guests had their photos taken with Mr. Seinfeld and were able to interact briefly with the comedian before he departed.

"We have hosted some spectacular events since we opened the Cunard Centre in 2006 but this one will definitely go down in the history books" said RCR Hospitality Group founder, Robert Risley. "It's nice to know we can use the Cunard to help attract such world-class talent to Halifax. We really enjoyed working with the QEII Foundation to make it happen." In addition to hosting the event, RCR Hospitality Group was also a major sponsor for this event. The event, which raised funds for a new Emergency and Trauma Centre for the QEII Health Sciences Centre will greatly reduce wait times for residents of the HRM seeking emergency services.
